For nearly a century, the fashion weeks in New York City, London, Milan and Paris have held a monopoly on setting the style agenda each season. But in the last decade, more and more smaller cities are staging their own versions of the event, using the big four as a model, but not necessarily a blueprint. I attended Phoenix Fashion Week as a fashion blogger and had an AWESOME experience. It's great to see them have such amazing recognition. If you want to see some photos from Phoenix Fashion Week 2012, visit http://coutureinthesuburbs.com...

Nice recap Feifei and thanks for featuring local runway stories after one month of fashion in 4 major style capitals of the world.  Thanks to live stream and re-broadcast.  I finally went local (Phoenix Fashion Week) over the weekend to support emerging designers as well as witness established couturier Philippine-born, Dubai-based Furne One (pronounced fern oh-nay)

Here are a couple of blogs about Phoenix Fashion Week 2012, and a video of the Finale.

Very nice for TIME to pick up this story and help market local fashion week.  More than the 4 major style capitals of the world mainly catering to the very rich and famous, the smaller local fashion weeks is a community effort that truly brings people together.  For example, the main goal of Phoenix Fashion Week is to boost emerging designers and bridge them with local and/or global buyers. We also feature established designers who sometime mentor the new comers.  Here are a couple of blogs to give you a feel for Phoenix Fashion Week 2012.
