Gloverall, the child of British militaria, citizen demand and fine English tailoring, was the first company to popularize and mass produce duffle coats, which have become winter staples. Although Gloverall, founded in 1951, has its heritage on its side, the company has tried over the past few years to make sure its clientele doesn’t have to fit in with the swarms of aspiring preppies also wearing duffles. The result has been odd combinations with even stranger fabrics, but Gloverall seems to have finally hit its stride with duffles cut from more out-there shades of boiled wool.
