Because Swaine Adeney Brigg, the British makers of fine accessories, has been around longer than America, one might think that they don’t have to change much at all from year to year. Or from decade to decade. However, the company nearly went bankrupt last year, and through Mr. Porter, Brigg began selling colorful umbrellas that were far the hallmarks of British austerity the company was famous for. Brigg not only saved itself, but in the process, introduced a new, slightly foppish breed of expertly crafted goods to the masses.
