This being Italy, it is worth shopping. Some market stalls under the Rialto Bridge sell well-crafted leather bags and wallets, and several stores nearby offer handmade leather gloves in dozens of colors, from hot pink to conventional browns. Other possible gifts include ground espresso packed in tins with watercolor scenes of Venice on them and the ubiquitous Murano glass, fashioned into jewelry and ornaments. Some of the finest on offer are in Aldo Mandruzzato’s store, Artistic Murano Glass San Marco, at Sestriere San Marco 5115, near the Rialto Bridge. It has modern pieces by local artists, a refreshing change from the mass-produced designs you find elsewhere.
