The January 2013 cover of Elle Serbia

Over the past two years, gender-bending Andrej Pejic has formed a career that any female model would want: magazine covers, advertising campaigns and runway shows (Pejic walked in Jean Paul Gaultier’s men’s and women’s shows). And now he’s added to his résumé an accomplishment that any male model would want: the cover of a woman’s fashion magazine.

Pejic, born in then Bosnia and Herzegovina, has landed the cover of the January 2013 edition of Elle Serbia, making him the first man to front the magazine. Of course, he appears on the cover as the gorgeous woman we’ve come to know him as, dressed in a black wig and Gaultier clothing. Inside, Pejic wears lingerie from La Perla and Agent Provocateur, as well as a menswear suit from Gaultier in a feature aptly titled, “Victor Victoria.” The cover indicates that 2012 might have been a breakthrough year, but 2013 is likely to be just as successful for the androgynous model.
