Michelle Obama is one of the worst dressed First Ladies of all time. Look at the picture above, with the ill fitting skirt and what looks to be her daughters sweater. Whomever thinks she is a style icon must be sitting behind their computer in their Power Ranger Jammies in momies basement. Get a clue.
@mrbomb13My visceral urge, mrbomb, is to give you my wholehearted agreement, given my opinion of Mrs. Obama as one of the homeliest women ever to roam the halls of power in Washington (with Hillary a close second); I mean, imagine turning a corner at the White House upon a midnight dreary and bumping into either lady..! Anyhow, that’s just my subjectivity acting up again, but I wish the media and certain dime store celebrities would cease and desist from portraying the current First Lady as a 21st century Helen of Troy. Enough already, people! (Or maybe they’re contemplating her through an esoteric third eye, as I’m sure is the case with d. s. celeb and Tantric expert Dan(ish) Sausage who, in a 2011 interview with TIME, gushed: “...the glamour supernova that is Michelle Obama. It's staggering how charismatic and beautiful she is.” Looks aside (whew!), I confess I’m style-illiterate, so maybe the woman does possess some sartorial merit after all. Care to enlighten me on this one?
@Hollywooddeed Wait a single, red-hot minute... on re-reading my first comment, I see where my slapdash diction may have led good old Mead to believe that I was trumpeting my own good looks vis-à-vis our dear Michelle's undeniably dubious ones. Au contraire, since, although the decades have been kind to me, I'm no looker myself, plus being a total ignoramus in matters of haute couture. That is why I was appealing to the very knowledgeable mrbomb to help me see why our redoubtable First Lady is, in his words, "no style icon".
@Hollywooddeed I would, and still might, you know, Jollygoodmead!, but a few constraints stand in the way of your sage advice, namely: 1. I’m a guy and the First Lady is, well, a lady (duh!) – asymmetric criteria, you genius; 2. I’d be giving away my alter ego as a mild-mannered reporter for a metropolitan daily, and how then could I continue telling the truth unhindered? 3. I confess I’ve tried to post a picture before of whatever, but nada, and I’m deeply embarrassed to admit that something I suspect is ridiculously simple stumped me. And that’s the double truth, Ruth!
