Gossipmongers have been eagerly awaiting tonight’s Met Ball to see if performer Kanye West will arrive with his baby mama Kim Kardashian on his arm. The reality star was reportedly banned from last year’s Costume Institute gala at the decree of Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour, who purportedly turns up her nose at the curvaceous Kardashian’s fashion choices and E!-branded overexposure.
So eyebrows were raised when West and Kardashian were photographed entering Wintour’s New York City apartment Sunday night; US Weekly reports that the three sat down to “an intimate dinner.” With loose hair and red lipstick, a pregnant Kim looked radiant in a sleek black Prada dress—perhaps a not-so-subtle reference to The Devil Wears Prada, widely believed to be based on Wintour?
Despite his girlfriend’s feud with the Vogue maven, West remains friendly with her. In March, the Daily Mail reported that the rapper was “begging” Wintour to put Kardashian on the cover of Vogue (so far to no avail). West may be putting the cart before the horse—let’s see how Kim does on the Met Ball red carpet among fashion’s crème de la crème. That is, if Vogue’s ice queen has deemed her worthy of the invite.
