With photographers relentlessly documenting her every move, it’s easy to understand how Kate Middleton could tire of being in front of a camera. Which may explain why she’s been taking in the view from behind the lens as of late.

During her recent official tour with Prince William across Southeast Asia and the South Pacific, the Duchess of Cambridge snapped scenic photos of the Bornean jungle in Malaysia, with her own “pocket-sized digital camera,” according to the Guardian. The black-and-white images capture the jungle’s vastness and natural light, with one picture showing the silhouette of an endangered orangutan up close. Her captions are endearing, if not a little calculated: one of a jungle clearing explains that “when the sunlight does shine through, it creates the most spectacular effect through the architectural structures of the trees and leaves.”

All of the photos are available on the royal couple’s new website, which launched earlier this week. With her photography and media saavy on full display, is it too much to hope that we’ll see her on Instagram soon?
