Booking a last-minute beauty appointment can be an exasperating task, but a new app called ‘Beautified’ is hoping to simplify the process.

The mobile-only app, which officially launched today, lets users schedule last-minute beauty appointments, including haircuts, manicures and massages, through a curated list of salons and spas. The service is currently only offered in New York City, with editions for Los Angeles, Miami, Dallas and Chicago slated to debut later this year.

The brainchild of New York entrepreneur, restaurateur, DJ and “It-girl” Hannah Bronfman was born from her own frustrations of not being able to nab a beauty appointment when she needed one. So Bronfman set out on a crusade to “fix a First World problem” with co-founders Annie Evans and Peter Hananel, creating a platform that lets users take advantage of last-minute spa and salon cancellations and vacancies. In fact, users can only schedule appointments for the day of, and openings for the following day aren’t available for booking until 6 p.m. the previous day. The eight different types of beauty services available are geared towards on-the-go customers: while blowouts and waxes are offered, hair coloring and more complicated treatments are not.
