Chanel Tops Pinterest List of Popular Fashion Brands

Pinterest relies on individual users to populate boards with pins—of food, fashion, home décor and more—which are pulled from retailers’ websites and reshared by fellow users on the social media site. It’s this user-focused model that explains how Chanel landed at the top of a list of popular fashion brands on Pinterest, despite having an official account that lacks any pins or boards of its own.

Chanel topped the list with an average of 56 pins and 1,244 reshares per day, according to a study conducted by analytics firm Curalate and Pivot Conferences. The report only factored in data about shares and impressions from everyday users, not activity from the brands themselves. Shoe companies Christian Louboutin and Jimmy Choo rounded out the top three, respectively.
