While browsing Victor Edelstein’s collection in London, Diana saw this gown in burgundy and requested that he make a midnight-blue version. It went on to become one of her most iconic dresses. She debuted the dress publicly on her first joint state visit to the United States with Prince Charles in 1985. On the first night of the trip Diana famously wore it to a gala dinner at the White House, where she danced with John Travolta to “You Should be Dancing,” which featured in his movie “Saturday Night Fever.”
