Multitasking has never been a problem for Kanye West, but this summer his already-full plate has gotten even more crowded. Last month he became a first-time father with the birth of his daughter North by Kim Kardashian, and his latest album Yeezus was released three days later. Now the French brand A.P.C. has confirmed via Instagram that they will partner with the prolific rapper on a menswear line.

This is the first celebrity collaboration for the minimalist brand, founded by Tunisian-born designer Jean Touitou in 1987. The line is set to be released on July 14 and will consist of a single pair of jeans, a tee and a hoodie.
The A.P.C. capsule collection is not West’s first foray into the fashion industry—he has previously collaborated with Nike, Louis Vuitton and Italian shoe label Giuseppe Zanotti, and has twice presented his own line in Paris to mixed reviews. An ardent disciple of style, West often referenced his favorite designers in his music, although a June interview with W Magazine stated that he “no longer believes in dropping brand names, except for his own.”
Will the new collection be greeted with enthusiasm or derision? Fashion critics have not been especially kind to West in the past, but perhaps the Parisian chic of A.P.C. will lend him the sartorial cred that he’s seeking.
