In the mid-80s, Larry Leight was planning to open a high-end optical boutique in Los Angeles. After striking a deal with a New York antiques collector, Leight became the proud owner of 1,500 unassembled vintage eyeglass frames, once distributed by a man named Oliver Peoples. Leight and his brother Dennis opened up their first boutique on Sunset Boulevard in 1986, a year before launching the first Oliver Peoples wholesale collection.
