Break out your top hats, goggles and gears before setting sail on the Steampunk Cruise. If you’re not familiar with steampunk, it’s best described as Victorian science fiction, a literary genre that imagines the future as predicted in the 19th century — where more modern technology like submarines and airplanes are steam-powered. Though a cruise ship jam-packed with modern amenities may clash with the steampunk aesthetic, guests can get around it by attending musical performances, balls, vintage bathing suit contests and even a mad-scientist monologue competition. Participants board Royal Caribbean’s Navigator of the Seas in New Orleans and head to Grand Cayman, Jamaica and Cozumel.
