Karl Lagerfeld, the fashion designer who seemingly never sleeps—helming his eponymous label, Chanel, Fendi, as well as innumerable side projects and collaborations—is back with a Bavarian-flavored capsule collection. Timed to coincide with the opening of his new concept store in Munich in September, the mini line features a modern, punked-up interpretation of the dirndl, that iconic German dress worn by 19th century farmfolk and modern day beer wenches on Halloween. WWD reports that along with the dirndl, the line will feature a pinafore and white blouse, “all done with a rock ’n’ roll edge and touches of black leather.”

This year marks a return to his roots for Lagerfeld, as he recently opened a store in Berlin, where this collection will also be available. Though he was born in Hamburg, the prolific designer currently lives and works in Paris. An Oktoberfest-inspired line is one thing. But we can’t picture Kaiser Karl swapping his trademark Diet Coke for steins of pilsner anytime soon.
