Avery Rumpkin is reminiscent of one of the all-time greats: Thomas Hardy’s Ale, a beer so thick you may need a ladle. Drinking the Rumpkin is akin to imbibing straight-up molasses. And when you start to explore its complexity, you’ll realize there’s much more to it than pumpkin: ginger and raisins being just two of a dozen different tastes you might encounter. It’s aged for six months in rum barrels, which adds a latent oakiness. It’s also 18.1% ABV, and that was not a typo.
