Kate Middleton’s style can be accurately described as classy, elegant or refined — and none of those words begins with a k. If the Kardashian sisters had their way, though, she would have a whole “kollection” of bandage dresses and leopard-print blazers to add to her tasteful wardrobe. Unfortunately for the Kardashian triumvirate, the Duchess of Cambridge was reportedly not too fond of this prospect.
Only four days after Middleton allegedly rebuffed a Kardashian-sent invitation to afternoon tea, she sent back the Kardashian Kollection samples that Kim Kardashian had mailed to her. The line recently debuted at U.K. department store Dorothy Perkins.

According to Marie Claire U.K., the reality-TV star had hoped that the fashionable royal would lend some legitimacy and polish to the sisters’ brand if she wore the designs in public. “Kate seems like a really sweet person, and she’s a princess,” Kardashian told the magazine. “We love her sense of fashion. She could wear our looks and team it with one of her hats.”
The Kardashians previously designed lines for QVC and Bebe. Even if Middleton wanted to pair a Kardashian Kollection nude-lace corset dress with one of her many Philip Treacy fascinators, accepting the free clothing would have violated her own rules — she is known for refusing to use a stylist and insists on returning gifts and paying full price for purchases.
A Middleton rep elaborated by citing her innate sense of style, even though it entails relatively conservative sartorial choices. Meanwhile, a Kardashian-acquainted source refuted the story to E!, which airs the family’s reality shows.
“Kim was working the whole time, and though she admires Kate, she didn’t reach out to her,” the source said.
Looks like Middleton will have to pick up a sequined gold blazer on her own if she plans on helping the Kardashian sisters’ wish fulfillment.
