Known for explorations of space and light, James Turrell headlines three major museum shows this year, beginning with retrospectives at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art in May and the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, in June. Turrell will then transform New York City’s Guggenheim rotunda, above, into a colorful space that will appear to expand and contract with shifting natural and artificial light (June 21–Sept. 25).
