E. Tautz, a sporting and military clothing company, was founded in the mid 19th-century, but made a high-end comeback in 2005, when designer Patrick Grant, who owns Savile Row tailor Norton & Sons, acquired the company. In its revival, E. Tautz has been known for its particularly bold combinations, such as a Melton peacoat in a bright yellow shade or a Mackintosh trench in a surprising ivory color. Their recent line, however, represents one of its most ambitious endeavors yet—the black Nicholas P0lo coat. Traditionally a baggy, camel-haired piece sported over the last century or so by the likes of the Duke of Windsor, E. Tautz’s slimmer, darker and more modern iteration is a welcome change.
