Although John Lobb has been putting boots and shoes on actors, princes and lords since 1856, thanks to the collaborative efforts of Paul Smith, the Lobb firm did something remarkably different this year. They released their classically British oxford, but this time in green, purple, pale brown and navy. The careful combination of Smith’s Yellow Submarine dandy aesthetic and Lobb’s sleek yet understated touch resulted in a line of subtle and elegantly flashy colorways and a very traditional shoe that somehow, and literally, kicks all shoemaking tradition in the head.
