If you don’t have the time to travel 200 km south of Delhi to Agra and see the famed Taj Mahal, you can always go have a look at Humayun’s Tomb, which is said to be the inspiration behind it. The tomb was built in 1565 to house the remains of the second Mughal emperor Humayun and was commissioned by his widow Bega Begum. This ornate mausoleum is part of a walled complex that includes the tranquil Lodi Gardens, built by the British in 1936 and featuring several other Mughal tombs.
