When the teenage star of The Princess Diaries blossomed into a Hollywood A-lister, she needed her wardrobe to keep pace. Enter Valentino, who met Hathaway in 2005 and subsequently developed a close professional and personal relationship with her, even designing a bridal gown for her fall 2012 wedding. They are now so deeply associated that when the Les Misérables star did not wear her favorite designer to the 2013 Academy Awards—opting instead for a widely detested Prada gown—she issued a public apology for failing to dress in Valentino. Hathaway highlighted the “deep and meaningful” ties she has to Valentino, and no doubt she will continue to shine in his creations in the future.
