The savviest of celebrities know that self-reinvention is the key to career longevity. Though he started out as a cutesy child Mouseketeer, and then a member of sometimes-sartorially-challenged boy band ‘NSync , when he embarked on a stint as a solo musician in 2002, Timberlake knew he had to revamp his style. That transformation now seems complete with his discovery of (and subsequent lovefest with) designer Tom Ford. In 2011, Ford dressed the crooner for the Oscars, the Grammys, and the Met Ball, among other events. Timberlake is often spotted in the front row of Ford’s runway shows, and his “Suit and Tie” video is a virtual catalogue of Ford’s menswear. But the choice seems smart: Ford has helped JT position himself as a modern-day dandy in the vein of a classic screen idol.
