It can’t be easy serving on long-haul flights in sarongs, but Singapore Air has stuck with its Pierre Balmain-designed Malaysian-inspired suits since 1968. Each suit is custom tailored, and so fitted that it can be difficult to reach the overhead bins. But becoming a Singapore Girl, as they call them, is highly competitive and the airline says it puts them through thrice as much training — teaching them how to walk and serve, in addition to all safety training — than any other airline.
