The French naturally tapped their star designer Pierre Cardin for these uniforms (pictured in May 1968), both summer light gabardine and dark jersey shift and coat for winter. Cardin also designed uniforms for Pakistan International Airlines with a chiffon hood, edged with satin for the Muslim country. Eleanor Ginsberg of Los Angeles’ Flight Path Museum and Learning Center says, “You can see the quality on old uniforms — the buttons, the tailoring, the details, like little pockets, and beautifully cut and notched lapels.”
