Recipe for an ideal Gucci ambassador: take one part Grace Kelly granddaughter, one part noted equestrienne, and one part princess. Shake, stir—and do whatever you want, really—and voila! Behold Charlotte Casiraghi, the 26-year-old daughter of Princess Caroline of Monaco, who fronts Gucci’s “Forever Now” 90th anniversary campaign, which began last year. The pouty-lipped, delightfully bone-structured Casiraghi has passions and pedigree that made her an ideal fit for a brand closely associated with its trademark bits. After all, Guccio Gucci founded the House of Gucci as a saddlery shop in 1921 and had a lifelong interest in horses and equestrianism.
“[Charlotte] not only embodies the beauty and the grace of the equestrian, but is also a wonderful ambassador for the sport,” Gucci creative director Frida Giannini, who personally designs all of Casiraghi’s riding outfits, said in a press release. “I am delighted to be able to celebrate Gucci’s icons of heritage with someone who is so connected to the history and essence of this house.”
The “Forever Now” campaign debuted days later, photographed by Peter Lindbergh in front of a stable.
