For her first fashion campaign, Stewart went floral. Florabotanica, that is. Balenciaga head Nicolas Ghesquière chose the then-21-year-old to be the face of the brand-new fragrance in January 2012. The notoriously stoic star stayed as true to herself as possible in the ads, which debuted in June 2012. The split screen of her face and her straight-legged, hands-in-pockets pose next to an oversized bottle of the perfume is both wildly colorful and intriguing.
“I think that’s kind of perfect for this particular ad. Usually, a fragrance ad would definitely be like,” Stewart said as she demonstrated an exaggerated, sexy lounge pose on the couch. “When I first stood there, I was like, ‘OK, do you want me to show the curves of the dress? Do you want me to stand like this? Like that?’ And they were like, ‘Just be comfortable.'”
The rebellious star maintained her contract as she weathered her public cheating scandal this summer, even though she was curiously absent from a video fragrance promotion.
