SJP graces the magazine’s biggest issue ever in a gold, sequined Marc Jacobs sheath dress. She’s a safer choice than some of the magazine’s more risque, artsy cover girls—Gwen Stefani in that pink get-up on their September 2012 issue, for one—primarily because her selling power is a matter of empirical record. We would have preferred for the magazine to take more of a risk, especially with the accessories (she wore a single gold bangle bracelet on each wrist) and hair—nice to see that ombre is still a big trend. And the interview, by Cathy Horyn? Well, here’s just about the most exciting quote: “I love Matthew Broderick. Call me crazy, but I love him. We can only be in the marriage we are. We’re very devoted to our family and our lives. I love our life.” Groundbreaking.
