J.Law is undoubtedly having a Moment. Her popularity blew up after that genuine, heartfelt Oscars speech (and that all-too-real fall while walking on stage), and kudos to Vogue for capitalizing on it. This girl is on fire, especially with Hunger Games: Catching Fire coming out this November, although she’s actually promoting Serena, a period film with Bradley Cooper (out Sept. 27), inside the issue. Lawrence’s tweed-heavy fashion spread, shot by Mario Testino, is a different look for the actress who usually opts for solid-colored, sculptural creations. But her now-famous candor in conversation is instantly recognizable in the profile: Lawrence describes being an unhappy, anxious child, while her Catching Fire director is quoted as saying she needs to take some time off to avoid overexposure. This is Lawrence’s first Vogue U.S. cover; she was on the cover of British Vogue in November. At 902 pages and 665 ad pages, this isn’t Vogue‘s heftiest September issue (that honor would go to last year’s issue with Lady Gaga on the cover, at 916 pages), but it does come in a close second.
